Indonesian game developers now have a big opportunity to enter the games market in red bear countries. The good news came from the management of the National ICT Entrepreneurs Association – APTIKNAS DKI Jakarta Province.
A number of DKI Jakarta APTIKNAS administrators recently held a meeting with developer associations from the Russian Federation. At the meeting, representatives of Indonesian game associations and publishers, such as APTIKNAS DKI, CAKRA, Lyto, Majamojo, Megaxus, Gamelab, and True+ Indonesia, were present along with Russian representatives, including Mr. Ivan Dronov, Vasiliy Ovchinikov, and Alexander Brodov.
The Russian developer association opens collaboration opportunities for Indonesian game developers to market Indonesian game products on the Russian market, as well as invest in the games industry.
“We are interested in marketing Russian game products to the Indonesian market and vice versa,” said Mr Ivan Dronov, on the sidelines of the meeting.
On the other hand, Russian developers are also interested in finding publishers for Russian game products in Indonesia. This was conveyed by the Chairman of the DPD APTIKNAS DKI Jakarta Province, Hendri Andrigo after a meeting with the Russian federation, on (19/5/2023) at the Russian Federation Trade Representative Office, Jakarta.
The gaming market in Indonesia currently, said Hendri Andrigo, is dominated by products from China, America, Korea and Japan. “However, the option to market Indonesian games in Russia is considered attractive, and one example of an Indonesian game that is ready to go international is Lokapala,” said Hendri.
It is hoped that this collaboration will be a milestone in progress for Indonesia’s creative industry. By entering the Russian market, Indonesian game developers can expand their reach and increase the exposure of their games globally. Apart from that, this collaboration also has the potential to open up opportunities for Russian developers to reach the broad Indonesian market.
This meeting was attended by a number of APTIKNAS administrators, namely Hendri Andrigo (Chair of APTIKNAS DKI), Mike Edward (Secretary of DKI), and Andi Tanudiredja (Deputy Deputy Director of APTIKNAS for Foreign Cooperation), Ivan Chen from CAKRA association and Game Development, Kenken from Lyto, game publisher . Not to forget Dody and Anindina from Majamojo, game publisher, Felix from Megaxus, game publisher, Dandi from Gamelab, and Sofian Martinue from True+ Indonesia, Game Publisher.
Regarding the opportunity for cooperation between Indonesian and Russian game publishers and game developers, the General Chair of APTIKNAS, Soegiharto Santoso, welcomed it happily. “We must facilitate and encourage the work of the nation’s children in the gaming sector so that it penetrates the Russian market,” said Hoky, his nickname, when asked for his response regarding this collaboration opportunity, in Jakarta (22/5/2023).
Hoky added, APTIKNAS will continue to strive to encourage potential collaboration between game developers and publishers with other countries, apart from Russia. “This will open up opportunities for employment and foreign exchange for the country if this collaboration runs,” he concluded.
